Parish History

Our parish has been celebrating Mass for its parishioners since 1916.

Mass was celebrated in the homes of parishioners until 1921, when the first Sacred Heart Church was erected. Thirty-two years later, the parish had outgrown it.

Ground was broken for a new building in March, 1954 and the church was finished by Christmas of the same year. Father F. Michael Higgins was along with the parish members started the plans for the new church, did not get to see its completion as he was killed in an auto accident that year. 

Over the years, Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish has heeded the call to serve the People of God. She invites your to share with others the Good News of life in Christ and the Sacraments of His Catholic Church.
